My series of earth portraits titled “Geographies” was exhibited in 2008 at the Prince George, B.C. Two Rivers Art Gallery . The works incorporate simplified forms abstracted as frequently from human entities as they are from geographical features, textures derived from natural and human-made artefacts, hues adapted to the shifting juxtaposition of elements. The works echo the beauty, diversity, strength, and fragility of our wonder-filled world. Tactile smaller works evolve into larger scale canvases whose visceral rhythms of colour, light, and movement cause the imagination to soar. The capacity for creative change, in art as in life, underlies the shifting perspectives of “Geographies”. Viewers are invited to bring their own narrative to the works, to revitalize their acknowledgement of the intricate web-of-life. Surely we will make wise choices for that which we love.
